Panasonic, Sanyo Develop Handsets for Terrestrial Digital Broadcasts
September 30, 2005
Panasonic and Sanyo plan to roll out handsets which are able to receive digital terrestrial broadcast signals in late 2005 or early 2006, in response to the planned start of these broadcasts by Japan Broadcasting Corp. (NHK) and others in early 2006. These handsets will provide clear digital broadcast images even during commuting, and will be equipped with an analog broadcast tuner for people living in areas where terrestrial digital broadcasts will be unavailable. Panasonic will ship their handsets to NTT DoCoMo and Sanyo will deliver its models to KDDI.
